THE TALK: ART IS A SPELL
Exploring the occult through the symbolic language of creativity, we'll discuss esoteric thought and traditions and the ways in which these are expressed through the arts across generations. As series editor of The Library of Esoterica book series from Taschen, Jessica Hundley will offer an overview of the creation of these multivolume visual encyclopedias, as well as highlighting key artists, writers, poets, whom have created works inspired by or directly translating the practices of Tarot, Astrology and Witchcraft.
Celebrating artists working within a range of mediums (from music to writing to visual art to performance), Hundley, alongside a panel of artists included in the series, will discuss not only the history of mysticism in art, but the archetype of the mystic - as empowered creative.

The Library of Esoterica is a multi-volume book series from Taschen, exploring the expansive visual history of the arcane, and showcasing artwork birthed through the expressions of a wide variety of traditions and rituals.The intent of this series is to offer inclusive, introductory overviews to these ancient rituals and in doing so, the aspiration is to draw back the veil to reveal a deeper appreciation of these valuable tools of the psyche. ABOUT JESSICA HUNDLEY
Jessica Hundley is an author, filmmaker and culture journalist. She has written for the likes of Vogue, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times, and has authored over a dozen books on artists such as Dennis Hopper, David Lynch, and Gram Parsons. Hundley often explores the counterculture in her work, with a focus on metaphysics, psychedelia, and magic. Hundley is currently engaged on projects for book publishers Abrams, Phaidon and Rizzoli. Hundley is also author and Series Editor for Taschen Publications multivolume collection, The Library of Esoterica, a book series exploring the visual history of Tarot, Astrology and other esoteric traditions.
